Millers Boss Justin Gardner on our last minute 3-2 win over South Essex Side Great Wakering Rovers.

Aveley dominated proceedings and eventually ran out 3-2 winners in the last minute with a Billy Coyne penalty.

Before that the Millers had so many chances and eventually led 2-0 with goals from Arian Retkoceri and Michael Pindy. But a ten minute spell for Great Wakering saw them pull back level. But a Sherwin Stanley shot was handled by Easterford and Billy Coyne converted the penalty to get a fully deserved three points to send the Millers third in the Ryman North.

"I thought the first half was great, we were so dominant and played some really good football."

"And what a big bonus it is to have Brian [Okwera] back, I can't tell you how important this lad is."

In fact is was Brian's first involvement since his injury against Cray Wanderers back in mid July after he came off in the first half with a injury to his groin muscle.

"To be honest we controlled and dominated the game until they scored and that was quite disappointing that we let them back into the game."

"Maybe the players like to keep the supporters on their toes, or just give me heart attack, I can't seem to work that one out!!"

"As for a fan or neutral who come down to watch Aveley paying their money, I think you would find it difficult at any level to see so many goals at either end then coming to watch Aveley! But on a serious note, we need to stop conceding silly goals, but for a small club with big hearts, we are punching and long may that continue."

The Millers failed to convert 13 penalties last season, so this was an important moment for more than one reason which Billy Coyne stepped up and converted.

"I can't remember the last time we scored a penalty, so I could not watch it."

"The main positive from the match was that we got three points against a side that we normally struggle against. Wasn't helped however by their goalkeeper, he was man of the match so that says enough."

"But for us, it's one game at a time, and we will see if we can carry on punching above our weight."

Millers are next away to Witham Town who have won six out of their last nine matches and will be a really tough match.
