A look at what the Urchins from the Bridge will bring to the table in the 2015/16 season.

Manager- Jim McFarlane
Key Player- George Purcell
Last Season Finish- 23rd (Ryman Prem)

Who are this lot then?-
AFC Hornchurch, formed in 2005 after Hornchurch Football Club suffered financial problems and was closed down. The new club joined the Essex Senior League, during the 2005–06 season, where they were champions at the first attempt, and followed this up by winning the Isthmian League Division One North title in 2006–07.

In 2012 AFC Hornchurch won promotion to the Conference South by beating Lowestoft Town in the playoff final 2–1. Hornchurch were relegated after one season and reached the Isthmian Premier League play-off final the following season, but this time lost 3–0 to Lowestoft in the 2013/14 season.

Get up to much last season?-
The Urchins were relegated last season and finished second bottom with Bury Town the only side below them.

The start of the 2014/15 campaign didn't get off to the best of starts with no home games in the first 8 games, due to floodlight work, which AFC Hornchurch went on to lose all eight. During the middle of the season influential striker George Purcell was then banned for 6 games after an apparent spit picked up during a match. The urchins were on good unbeaten runs but couldn't turn draws into wins at home, and eventually went down on the second last day of the season.

Stand out player?-
George Purcell, a pure and born goal scorer at the Ryman Premier League level, with that ability in the Ryman North that could prove to be crucial in the Urchins bid to go straight back up to the Premier League.

George has played for a whole host of clubs including; York City, Braintree Town, Dover Athletic, Tonbridge Angels, Eastbourne Borough, Ebbsfleet, Dartford and Margate.

Over the last two seasons he has now found that consistency of playing time and scoring goals and is Hornchurchs main man for the upcoming campaign.
