Ahead of our match against the Dockers on Saturday at Mill Field, we look back at the last time the Millers played our opponents Tilbury.

After many postponements this was the Millers first match of 2016, and it ended Tilbury’s 18 match unbeaten run which they have yet to get over from in recent month or so.

Aveley took time to get into the match and settle down as the hosts started brightly with the recent form that they had been on in previous weeks.

James Marrable kept the Millers in the game with two smart saves to deny Tony Martin, once from a close range shot, and the second a narrow angle.

Aiken was the next to have an effort at the Millers goal after Aveley's tried passing it out from the back, but Aiken couldn't get a hold of it and the effort trickled to Marrable.

Around the 25 minute mark the Millers started to grow into the match and took the game by the scruff of the neck and carved began to open opportunities. Abs Seymour’s cross was fumbled by the keeper, but the keeper quickly recovered well.

David Fallah and Michael Pindy carried the ball forward and ran at Tilbury with pace which put them on the back foot. Fallah soon after fired over the crossbar from a narrow angle.

Millers wait for a goal ended after some lovely neat play in the Dockers penalty area. Arian Retkoceri played it through to Abs Seymour who smashed home. Dockers 0-1 Millers.

Only a minute later the hosts had a glorious chance but again Marrable was on hand to tip over a fierce header directed towards goal.

The Millers then had three good chances to really kill the game off before the break. Jack Edwards fired a brilliant long ranged effort which flew just past the upright. Liam Nash saw his effort cleared off the line after his shot beat the keeper. Arian Retkoceri has the last chance after blasting into the area he fired wildly over the crossbar.

Coming out for the second half you would've expected the Dockers to come flying out of the blocks, but it was the Millers who came out firing.

And with only two minutes into the half, Arian Retkoceri doubled the Millers lead. Great work from Liam Nash as he won the ball back on the far side of the penalty area, Pindy and Retkoceri waited in the box, he pulled it back and Arian Retkoceri applied the finish. Dockers 0-2 Millers.
In all truth the Millers really should've been out of sight. Michael Pindy forced the Tilbury keeper into a mistake. It landed to Liam Nash one-on-one with the keeper, he opted to chip and it landed inches wide of the goal.

Michael Pindy was next to have an attempt, he raced through but was caught by a few defenders covering, he got his shot off but was right down the throat of the Dockers keeper.
Sixty minutes into the match the Millers made our first substitution of the match with David Fallah making way and Louis Hazelwood coming on for his debut appearance after signing from Billericay Town.
Tilbury came right back into the match, and somehow they didn't get a goal. Great defending from Edwards, Dunn, Yala and Shehu all combined to clear balls away from the box. Kurt Smith hit the post from close range, somehow it didn't go in and Perry Dunn managed to clear it away.

The Millers showed tenacity and willing in the second half, throughout the team when there was a chance to press an opponent the Millers pounced.

James Marrable was called to action soon after to deny a Tony Martin header from point blank range.

The second change was another debut with Ibby Akanbi as he replaced Michael Pindy with ten minutes remaining .

The Millers had to deal with a few set pieces near the end of the match but they stood strong to get the three points and a well deserved clean sheet.
