Aveley have a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring journalist who is looking for their first taste of working at a football club.

Written by Craig Johnson.

With the club’s current media officer, Scott Hatley, leaving this summer to join Conference South side Chelmsford City, the club are looking for a new Match-Day Media Officer to join the Millers for the start of the 2014/15 season.

As Match-Day Media Officer you will be asked to attend all home and away matches during the 2014/15 season as a club official and as a club official you will be entitled to free entry to any ground at which Aveley are playing at.

You’ll be asked to produce match reports, record post-match interviews with Justin Gardner and his staff and/or players and deal with other local and non-league media teams.

The club would also ideally like someone who can provide additional content for the club website, such as videos of goals, although this is not essential.

Speaking to the club about his departure, Hatley said “I can’t thank the club enough for their support over the last two seasons and, most importantly, for them giving me the opportunity to do what I do and want to do as a career.

“Whoever takes on the job from me at Aveley has a fantastic opportunity to gather experience at a club that is really going places with the new stadium coming soon, and I wish them and the club all the best for the future.

“Moving to Chelmsford is a step in the right direction for me and I couldn’t have gotten the chance if it wasn’t for the work I done at Aveley.”

With the club looking to move to their brand new stadium for the start of the 2015/16 season it’s guaranteed to be an exciting time for everyone involved at the club.

And with this coming season likely to be the club’s final season at their long-term home all eyes will be on Mill Field this coming campaign making it the perfect opportunity to showcase your work.

If you are interested in the role then please email myself Craig Johnson, the Club Secretary, on CraigJohnson@AveleyFC.freeserve.co.uk or first team boss, Justin Gardner, on justingardner06@gmail.com for more information.
