AFC Hornchurch 2-1 Cray Wanderers

Both clubs started as the favourites for promotion this season. The first half was goalless but the visitors took the lead Andre McColin's scuffed shot beat Sam Mott in the Urchins goal.

AFC Hornchurch came back and were awarded a penalty, George Purcell stepped up and missed. He did make amends as his free kick found its way in the back of the net to equalise. The hosts left it late but new man David Wright poked home in the 90+3 minute to steal all three points.

AFC Sudbury 5-2 Romford

A new era has begun at Sudbury with the introduction of their new 3G pitch. The first game on the new surface did not disappoint. AFC Sudbury led 4-0 within 34 minutes, goals from; Parker, Clarke, Callander and Blackwell. Romford fought back and pulled a goal back one minute after half time, Ex-Miller Joe Bricknell with the goal.

Sudbury made completely sure of the victory with Luke Callander scoring against to make it 5-1. It wasn't the end as Romford were awarded a penalty in the 90+3 minute which was tapped in by Bricknell again to put Boro from bottom to 23rd.

Bury Town 5-1 Aveley FC

Recently relegated Bury Town lashed out by scoring five on their return to the Ryman North. It was the visitors who were on top and lead within a minute, Liam Nash putting the Millers top of the league. That lasted until the 28th minute with Ollie Hughes finishing well from a beautiful reversed pass through to him. Hughes put the hosts in front soon after a defensive mix up from a long throw where an open goal was there for a tap in.

As the Millers started throwing the kitchen sink at Bury, the Town scored three in 10 minutes. Ace Howell scored and then assisted for Lampshire to tap home to make it 4-1. The fifth came from good work by Lampshire whose cross come shot fell to Barber who rounded off the rout.

Great Wakering Rovers 2-0 Soham Town Rangers

These two sides are clubs who have been really overlooked by people who think could bring something to the league this season, but Wakering seized the initiative and ran out 2-0 winners after goals from Tom Ranger in the first half. The score was rounded off by Billy Radley in the 90th minute to give the Rovers a superb first game of the season.

Haringey Borough 0-0 Dereham Town
Attendance- 62
Relegation favourites entertained the play off favourites here in an entertaining 0-0 draw. The home side looked like the team who could've won the match, but in the end a well deserved draw for the travelling Magpies.

Harlow Town 2-0 Cheshunt
Attendance- 293
It doesn't get much better than a local derby to start the football season, this time it was the Hawks who took all three points in this encounter. Alex Read carried on from where he left off with a goal on the 18th minute mark. The hosts battled hard and managed to get their second with Junior Dadson scoring 15 minutes from time.

Heybridge Swifts 1-2 Thamesmead Town

Both sides who want to push for the play offs this season battled out an entertaining match. Swifts took the lead as Correy Davidson scored directly from a free kick into the top corner. Mead came back as Tyrus Gordon-Young got a slight touch on a free kick after the keeper misses the punch. With six minutes remaining the visitors took all three points as Porter crossed into the box Gordon-Young's header hit the post and Butler slid in to score.

Phoenix Sports 1-2 Maldon & Tiptee

The Jammers took this entertaining game to clinch all three points with a goal three minutes from time. It was the newly promoted Kent side who took the lead as Chris Hill was unmarked and headed into the back of the net. The Jammers equalised through Demi Akinwande as he ashes it across the keeper to bury it. The visitors then went and clinched all three points three minutes from time as Monlouis danced past three and buried past the keeper.

Redbridge 2-1 Witham Town
Attendance- 162
Reprieved Redbridge got off to winning ways against much fancied Witham with two goals in the first half. Both the goals came from Michael Ogboin within twenty minutes. Witham Town for a consolation late on through John Watson but it was the Motormen who got the three points.

Thurrock 3-1 Barkingside
Attendance- 71
The hosts got their season off with a bang with top scorer last season Ross Wall getting on the scoresheet with 15 minutes. Eight minutes later Lewis Clark doubled the score line. Barkingside fought back well in the second half and Aundre Spencer grabbed a goal in the 63rd minute. Side battled to the last but Thurrock rounded off the victory as Leslie Thompson scored in the 90th minute.

Tilbury 1-0 Wroxham

A superb three points for the Dockers, although many didn't see it coming it was a fully deserved three points for the hosts. The first half was an even affair with Wroxham missing their big players who left during the summer. But in the second half Tilbury scored the only goal of the game on 61 minutes as Tony Martin fired home.

Waltham Abbey 1-2 Brightlingsea Regent

Both sides played out an entertaining match as Regent ran out winners coming from behind. Both sides have targeted the play offs this season and the match as all going to plan for Martin Hayes as Abbey took the lead within 10 minutes with Ryan Flack opening the scoring. The visitors came back however as on the 29th minute Luke Reed equalised, the continued to force the match and attack and finally got the winner 20 minutes from time as Lamell Howell scored.
