Camborne visit Barracks Lane as Avonmouth celebrate Ladies Day

Avonmouth welcome Camborne RFC of Cornwall to Barracks Lane this Saturday for what will no doubt be a physical and entertaining fixture. The "Cherry & Whites" make the 350 mile round trip after an impressive 45-19 win over travelling Bideford last weekend which will no doubt have given them confidents for this coming fixture . This however will be the first away game of the season for the Cornishmen who opened the season at home Vs Weston-Super-Mare with a narrow 21-23 loss. Unfortunately for them, this will not be their furthest point of travel this season as trips to Drybrook and Newent mean an even earlier coach departure time.

Avonmouth will also be holding their annual Ladies Day and keeping with tradition, the players will be wearing Pink socks.

Coaches Neil Loader & Marc Jones have made a number of changes from the side that lost heavily at Thornbury last weekend and hope that 2 strong training sessions this week will be enough to get the right result.
Skipper Dan Lee misses this clash due to attending a wedding and Hooker Craig Britton steps up to Captain the side for the first time.

Prop Ben Souch will not feature due to receiving a red card last week but there is a welcome return for former club Captain Grant Britton who wear the 1 jersey after under going surgery on his shoulder in the summer. Luke Mathews returns to the side after a weeks holiday and is partnered in the second row by Ryan Templar. Rhys Meredith gets his start of the season in the absence of Dan Lee. In the backline, Charlie Reynolds switches rom Wing to Fullback with Chris Hurd dropping to the replacements bench.

Camborne have many new faces in their team this year as they became a victim of the Cornish County squads success last season. The "Cherry & Whites" lost a number of senior players to higher level clubs in the region such a Redruth & Launceston while a few moved across to St Ives. Camborne have however picked up a number of players with a number of them having played a part in the Cornwall U20's County set up. Their most notable signing however comes in the form of Sam Matevesi who some may remember playing against a few season ago before he moved onto Redruth and most recently to Plymouth Albion. Matevesi, who is capped a handful of times by his motherland Fiji, made the switch back to Camborne over the summer and has made an instant impact as he touched down for a hat-trick of tries last weekend.
