Avonmouth bowed out of the Wadworth 6X Bristol Combination Cup last night with a 5-25 loss at the hands of National 2 South club Dings Crusaders RFC. In a game packed with high tempo, bruising hits and local rivalry, Lockleaze based club Dings turned on the after burners during the second half to pull away from a gritty Avonmouth side. Dings lead the break 5-7 and despite being down to 14 men for ten minutes, they held firm. The sheer pace of the game took its toll on "The Mouth" players and eventually gaps in their workman like defence started to appear, which Dings exploited. Avonmouth lost flanker Rhys Meredith to the bin on the 50 minute mark for hands in the ruck but more worryingly lost scrum half Connor Power to a dislocation of the shoulder. This is the second time in as many years Connor has suffered this injury and strangely enough in the same cup competition. We wish Connor a speedy recovery.

Dings now face Thornbury RFC in the next round for a place in the competitions Final against Cleve.
