Double Cup Champions

In an error strewn game that wasn't without its controversy the 1st XV lifted its second cup of the season after beating newly promoted Winscombe RFC 38-19 at Clifton RFC.
Winger Billy Reynolds snatched the MOM award with 4 tries to his name and an impressive all round display.
Winscombe battled hard throughout the game and credit to them did so for at least 60 mins with 14 men following the Red Card to scrum half and captain Lewis Podpadec.
Avonmouth weren't without cards as Flanker Ben Roach was binned for a technical foul at the breakdown just after the half time whistle and Tight-head Grant Britton also saw yellow following a kissing incident with his opposite number.

For some members of the squad this game was just another chance at silverware all be it in a cup where we have for many years competed in the main cup, for some it was their last chance at lifting something in the club colours they've worn all their senior playing lives but for the majority on the day it was a chance of a first taste at silverware in an Avonmouth shirt and even the first in their senior careers.
After a long old season and after the realisation we wouldnt be securing promotion in the league, i'm sure many members will agree that to end the season as a double cup winning club in the form of the Gloucestershire County Cup and Wadworth 6X Combination Vase is quite an achievement.

Congratulations to all involved on the day!!!
