Planning is in full flow for the 2014-15 campaign for all senior sides at the club with the main focus being for the 1st XV to bounce back into National League 3. First they will have to negotiate a tough Tribute South West 1 league with some equally ambitious sides chasing glory. Formal pre-season training starts at on Tuesday 15th July and before this the players are organising some informal touch rugby at Barracks Lane and looking forward to accessing the new club ‘Performance Gym’ later this month. In addition an extended 7’s squad is entering a handful of tournaments in the closed season.

The coaching structure has been revamped for the new campaign with Head Coach Andrew Webb taking on the role of forwards and overseeing defence. A Level 3 Coach, Coach Educator and Personal Trainer, Webb has previously worked as Director of Rugby at Filton College and been an Academy Coach with Bristol Rugby and the Exeter Chiefs. Webb came in midway through last season and is now keen to put some new systems in place for the whole squad working with the newly appointed 1st XV captain Liam Poole and his leadership support group including former captains Matt Belbin and Grant Britton amongst others.
Simon Weaver is joining the club as assistant coach overseeing the backs, attack play and the strength and conditioning program. Weaver will combine this new role with his existing position as Director of Rugby at the University of the West of England (UWE) which he has held for two years. He has previously coached within the Bristol Academy EPDG program, with Gloucestershire U20’s and the South West U20’s. An RFU Level 3 coach, Simon is also a specialist in strength and conditioning having completed a BSc. in Coaching and Conditioning whilst also holding a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning award. Like Webb, the backs coach has experience in performance programing and has coached several players who have moved into the professional game.

Laura Humphries remains in post as the club Phyiso to support training nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as matches on a Saturday by providing both treatment and rehabilitation programs to the players. Laura has been at the club for four seasons, is vastly experienced and specialises in Osteopathy whilst being based at the Belmont House Clinic in Bristol.

New or returning players are welcome for the upcoming season and anyone interested in finding out more can contact Andrew Webb on 07717686361.
