Duty Officer / Team - Senior - Duty Officer Responsibilities

ARFC Senior Section - Duty Officer - Saturday
Duty Officer Responsibilities
1. Arrive one and a half hours before kick off.
2. Raise the Club flag.
3. Arrange for tables and chairs as required for pre and post match hospitality. Use duty team, volunteers or, if necessary, pressed men. There are usually a few ‘volunteers’ around.
4. Meet the referee(s). Show him/them to changing room and offer refreshments. Determine referee(s) post match liquid preference and supply same to referee changing room.
5. Liaise with the Bar and Kitchen Manager to ensure these areas are sufficiently prepared to serve customers before and after the match.
6. Supervise and support programme seller who should be at entrance to snug bar. On league games, no entry without match programme.
7. Ensure that a scoreboard operator is present. If not, this is a Duty Officer task.
8. Assist in the greeting and making welcome of Club guest including officials of the opposing team.
9. Collect valuables and secure in Club safe; return.
10. Lock changing rooms after last player has exited the Club. Be on hand to open changing rooms in the event of an injury, substitution or other reasonable event. Suggest you watch play from an area adjacent to the clubhouse to facilitate entry; also suggest that only the outer exit door and that next to the gents toilet need to be locked.
11. Arrange for tea to be supplied to changing rooms post match together with cups, milk & sugar, spoons etc.
12. Ensure procedures are in place (by the duty team) to put tables and chairs away after the players’ meal.
13. In the event of injury to a player arrange for first aid to be administered including the calling of an ambulance.
14. Take the flag down after the end of the game.
It is important that these duties are performed conscientiously as they do have an impact on the smooth running of the Club on match days. They also convey a good impression to our visitors. If for any reason you are unable to attend on your allotted date then you are asked to provide a replacement.
