First Aid

Information First Aid
Sport offers many health benefits to its participants. Unfortunately accidents and injuries do happen, although serious injuries are less frequent than commonly thought.
In the event of an injury it is important that the appropriate care is administered quickly and safely. Every Youth Section age group has one or more qualified first-aiders and clear procedures exist for the management and escalation of injuries - including ensuring the appropriate level of care is given (e.g. pitch-side, A&E, at-home and GP referral). However, times of injury can be extremely stressful, not only for the person involved, but also for families and the people who must care for the injured person. It is all to easy to get confused, misunderstand what you've been told to do, or simply not remember it.

Whilst there is no substitute for intervention and management by a qualified and suitably trained person, links to a few sites that provide useful information on the management of injuries and, in particular, key symptoms to look out for are below. We hope these links save you time searching for information. But remember, if you are in doubt or unsure, seek immediate advice from a qualified expert.
