Ayes Romp into Final
CONFIDENT PLAY SEES CLINICAL END TO BLETCHLEY
A Foggy morning at Ostlers field saw the boys from the U14's roll in to a particularly chilly wintry changing room. The door was pushed shut (to keep as much heat in as possible) and the squad sat waiting anxiously for the coaching staff to announce the starting 15. The coaches dispensed with the formalities of squad selection and instead worked on building the players mental state to a better place than it had been in their previous two outings. Wise words planted deep into the young brains seemed to have done the trick and after a superbly positive warm up the ref blew for the KO. Immediately from the start Ayes showed their intent and burst forward through the attempted tackles toward the try line, the ball was recycled well an time after time the support runners did their jobs, slowly pinching metres until first blood was drawn by the Eastgate and the Aylesbury back line. This set the benchmark for the rest of the game and time after time the clinical forward play secured ball for the back line. Harvey Pittam, key to the effective delivery of ball to Eastgate whose distribution saw the backs play some sublime running rugby pressurising the now crumbling Bletchley defence allowing Bowles and Charlier to both run in multiple tries. Not to undone by the backs the forwards committed play saw Plowman make a number of breaks the best seeing him make a 60 meter run, off load then clear up a fumbled ball and go over for the clincher, at 50 points up by half time and in the spirit of the game Bletchley conceded and Aylesbury triumphantly earned their place in the final.
