Aylesbury U14's welcomed Windsor to Ostlers Field to a friendly fixture arranged way back in the summer when the sun was warm and the days long. The fixture was planned as an early training game allowing both squads to take a look at their set plays and player fitness to ensure we were ready for the upcoming season. Aylesbury took full advantage showing Windsor that we were a force to be reckoned with. The boys seemed a little lacklustre during the warm up, but after a few words from the coaching staff they soon focussed and took to the park where they put on a clean, crisp, and confident performance running in 41 points to 0 against their opponents in the first half. The first try came within minutes of the off in the first quarter, this allowed the floodgates to open and before long the squad were finding quick ball pays off and with quick running and plenty of support play the tries kept on coming. Halftime came and saw a number of changes to the Windsor squad. Aylesbury, who's squad of 19 had already taken it's first casualties and had made its changes were beginning to feel the effects of fatigue and took the opportunity of half time to take on plenty of water and take some well earned rest. The start of the second half was signalled and the boys continued to stick to their game plan. After a few minutes of fierce contesting for the ball Windsor came out on top and quickly sent the ball wide, a fantastic individual effort saw the Windsor player in at the corner for try. This action proved to be the end of the game as the player sustained a broken ankle for his efforts. (confirmed Sunday evening) All in all a very good performance from ARFC U 14's that we can build on and take forward into the new season.
