As the season draws to a close for the senior sides and shortly for the mini and junior sections, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in helping to ensure that this season at ARFC has been a success.
The Club needs everyone - from the players to the coaches (and not forgetting parents) and all other volunteers and helpers as without them / their help the Club could not function.
Speaking for the senior sides, although we all had our struggles along the way, as a whole we had a very productive season -
- with the 1st XV retaining the Bucks Shield following an epic final at Ostlers Field where the outcome was decided by a penalty shoot out (!) and there was also some encouraging performances in the league;
- and the 2nd XV enjoying one of their best seasons in years, picking up some very useful players along the way;
- and the 3rd XV managing to raise a side each week inspite of all the injuries to a large pocket of players within the Club:
- and not forgetting the Vets who remained unbeaten this season;
as well as bedding in a large number of players making the transition from junior to senior level (and this has been a great success).
So again a big thank you to the players for their efforts on the field and to the coaches and managers off the field and the great ARFC support on the sidelines.
Unfortunately we have to say farewell to ARFC head coach James Buckland who is stepping down from his role to pursue new goals and to focus on his playing career. We wish him all the best for the future and would like to thank him for all of his efforts and commitment to the ARFC cause.
I look forward to seeing you all in the new season - in our new club house which so many have worked tirelessly to make happen. Let's make the next season a great success both on and off the field.
