Aylesbury RFC Defence Master Class
As part of its 2012 coaching development plans Aylesbury RFC invited Justin Bishop to come to the Club to run a defence master class for club coaches and players. ARFC believes that the Club needs to encourage all its coach’s to develop in their roles and hopes current ideas used at premiership and international level will help them improve their team’s performance.
Justin Bishop knows what he is talking about. He is currently London Irish’s defence coach and has a wealth of experience playing 37 times for Ireland and 279 premiership games for London Irish.
The evening was well attended. Jason ran an indoor session first expounding his views on tackling and defensive systems, as well as, answering questions from the floor. Justin is very passionate that defences will win matches for a rugby side. The second session took place outside as coaches observed Justin's techniques in coaching Aylesbury’s players in tackling and defensive systems.
Aylesbury head coach who is also London Irish’s hooker, James Buckland, was pleased with the session as it stretched players and coach’s alike. Jim Dodds a long time player for Aylesbury first XV and a coach of the under 15’s, felt the evening was spot on and opened his eyes to improving not only his own defensive performance but those playing in the under 15’s.
The Club plan future master classes in 2012.
