Badshot Lea hit 8 v Sandhurst

Badshot Lea progressed in the EL Records Premier Challenge Cup after defeating Sandhurst Town 8-1 and now face Guildford City in the quarter finals

On a freezing night the crowd needed something to warm them. The pitch looked tricky and there were concerns whether the game would finish with the temperature dropping.
Holders Sandhurst Town seemed to be playing a high line in defence and both Prentice and Pearson were obviously looking to exploit this. On 21 minutes it was Pearson who opened the scoring with a good finish from a Hankin through ball. On 36 minutes and with Sandhurst appealing for offside it was Prentice who slid in at the back post to make it 2-0.
Right on the stroke of half time Prentice hit his sides third with a smart finish after it looked like Watson in the Sandhurst goal had cleared the ball.
The second half started how the first half ended and after 47 minutes it was 4-0. Josh Pearson turned and shot low into the corner. Pearson completed his hatrick on the hour mark with another good finish across Watson.
There was some celebration for Sandhurst when they scored a consolation on 70 minutes. A free kick was taken and played into a crowded box and Sam Knowles was on hand to head into the net.
Any thoughts that Sandhurst had of a comeback was soon quashed when on 80 minutes Pearson was on hand to finish smartly.
on 83 minutes it was Darren Blake who got on the scoresheet when Liam Roberts played him in and he ran through to finish well.
The 8th and final goal was left to Prentice when an excellent turn left his marker dead in his tracks and he ran through to complete his hatrick and book his sides place in the quarter finals where they will travle to the Spectrum to play the League Champions Guildford City.
Next up for Badshot Lea is a league fixture at home to Epsom & Ewell
