URGENT CHARITY APPEAL

BADSHOT LEA FC has received the following email, appealing for funds, to assist a former Old Windsor Tigers player, currently battling with Brain Cancer, to have an operation in the USA............please read on.

There is a link to JustGiving on the Sponsor rolling feed, home page, top right hand corner.

Dear Club Secretaries,

Firstly, apologies for the unsolicited approach but I got your details from your involvement with local football clubs and I am hoping you might be in a position to assist me. I am a divisional secretary at EBFA and also the Child Welfare Officer at Old Windsor Tigers FC.

Secondly, apologies if you have already received this from me as an approach has been made to a number of local managers and like myself I am sure many of you have several hats in relation to youth football.

I am contacting you today on behalf of one of my former players, and godson, 13 year old Jamie Green. Jamie is currently battling brain cancer and we are in the process of raising £250,000 to fund Proton Radiotherapy treatment in the US in order to offer him the best chance of survival. The support from family, friends, school and public has been fantastic and we have raised approximately £110K over the past month but we are still someway short of the £250K target.

I attach a formal invitation to the evening function which promises to be a great night of fine dining, sporting banter and comedy. We also have some out of this world auction items up for grabs, including some exclusive football memorabilia.

We have had a staggering response from the rugby fraternity and have several premiership and internationally capped players joining us for the evening, however I know first hand how friendly and supportive the youth football community is and I am hoping that you might be in a position to promote the event amongst your teams and club in order to support one of our own and in order to reach our goal and provide him with the treatment and the life he deserves.

To find out more about Jamie's story please feel free to visit either www.jamiesfund.com or www.justgiving.com/jamiesfund for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to review this request and if anybody has any queries or can assist in any way with supporting or raising awareness of the event then please do get in touch.

Thanks in advance,

Dan Birchmore
