Baffins Milton Rovers 1 Lymington Town 0
Rovers made it two wins on the bounce with their second consecutive one nil victory on Tuesday night at the PMC Stadium.
A lively opening encounter saw both sides playing neat football and it was Rovers who had the first opening when Tyler Moret headed an Ashton Leigh free kick into the ground and over the bar.
Minutes later and a clearance from Aston Leigh fell invitingly to Charlie Willett and his effort was caught under pressure on his own line by Tony Male.
Having gone close with his first effort Moret did one better with his next, giving Rovers the lead when he met and fired home an excellent cross from Robbie Taw on the right, with twenty five minutes on the clock.
Minutes later and Moret was again involved this time laying the ball off for Ollie Long, who saw his effort saved by Nic Jones in the visitors goal.
Just before the break and the lively Taw again combined with Moret and when the striker calmly turned inside his second goal looked to be on the cards, however he could on'y manage to rifle his effort over the top.
H /T 1-0
Having received a lengthy period of treatment in the opening forty five minutes Jones failed to return to the visitors goal for the second period and was replaced by young substitute keeper Henry Newman.
It wasn't long before Newman was involved in the action as he watched and claimed after kick from Shane Cornish without to many problems.
Minutes later and Newman was unable to prevent Jason Parish's cross from reaching Taw at the far post, but luckily for him the winger headed over the bar, when he should have done better.
The visitors enjoyed more of the ball in the second period, but rarely threatened Male in the Rovers goal.
One of many free kicks from Mike Gosney did see Male beaten, but luckily he had a fellow defender on hand to clear the danger at the far post.
Midway through the half Parish should have extended Rovers lead, but having broken the offside trap he advanced and rifled his effort across goal and wide.
The missed almost proved costly when another Gosney free kick slipped through the hands of Male, who was then in the right place to clutch the rebound, which was rifled straight at him by Cornish, who was attempting to clear.
Substitute Rudy Blankson should have done better late in the game but having broke clear his poor touch forced him wide and he crossed to Harry Wedlake, who was thwarted by a fine challenge from Tim Stephenson.
Late on and Tyler Yates dummies a corner at the near post, only for the ball to evade Blankson at the far post.
Gosney who had seen plenty of the ball in the second period had the last word, however his shot was deflected wide.
