"Value the Volunteer" Award from the West & Aire Wharfe District, at half-time at the Leeds Carnegie v Rotherham game

Barbara is our Head Grounds person, she has been at Baildon Rugby Club since the 1960’s when as a young girl, she helped her father who was the Groundsman at the time. Following her father’s death 15 years ago Barbara took over from her father and has worked tirelessly in all conditions looking after the pitches, marking out, rolling the pitch, and all the tasks involved in producing a match worthy pitch. It should be noted that when pitches at other clubs have not been playable Barbara always goes the extra mile for Baildon and has produced a playable pitch through sheer hard work and determination. Barbara has been seen on many occasions soaking up the water from the whole pitch with "towels" to avoid a waterlogged pitch. No mean feat I am sure you would agree. She has also taken on the task of cleaning the clubhouse and changing rooms alongside her son Stephen, and of course does a fantastic job.

When Barbara is not putting time into the playing surface she’s watching her beloved Baildon play at home and away matches and is a passionate supporter of the teams.

Barbara received the award from John Bentley (Leeds Carnegie) and Jimmy Child (Aire Wharfe Committee and Bradford Salem)
