As many of you may know the last 2016/17 league fixture vs Mansfield played at Chesterfield on April 22nd was abandoned late on by the referee. Leaving the 67 - 10 result and Mannerians promotion unconfirmed for a short period. The result did eventually stand, however both clubs were subsequently deducted 5 points from the start of the 2017/18 season.

The clubs decided to appeal the decision and the result of the appeal panel is as follows;

Dear All,

The Panel have confirmed the following in respect of this appeal:-

“Our decision in this matter is that the 5 point deduction was so excessive as to be unreasonable and is therefore quashed. We substitute a formal warning to both clubs as to their future conduct.”

We can now look forward to the new season ahead.
