One of our former players Mike Masters has been selected for the GB team going to the 2014 Amputee World Cup in Mexico later this year.

As many of you who are involved with our Club know, Mike unfortunately lost one of his legs in an accident at an Underground Station in 2007. Since then he has taken up Amps Football and his progress has already seen him represent Great Britain internationally.

Mike now has the opportunity to play at a World Cup, something all of us can only dream of in any sport. However, the Amputee Team do not get funded, so he needs to raise £2,000 before he can go to Mexico and do us all proud!

A number of Baldock Town players, past and present, will be undertaking the 54-mile London to Brighton Midnight Bike Ride event in July this year to help raise funds for him.

Thanks to the generosity of lots of people and in particular local company Advance Tanning their initial target of £2,000 was reached within an astonishing four days of setting up the following website:

Dave Rich and his merry men and women have now set their sights on funding the whole squad. The bar has been raised and the target is now £22,000!!

So, if you haven't done so, please donate what you can for this fantastic opportunity for Mike and his team mates.

If you don't want to donate online - there will be a bucket going round at the Club's Annual Presentation Evening on Friday 9th May at The Boot, so please give generously - every penny counts!

You can also follow the build up to the event on Facebook by clicking the following link:

Also, hoping to raise funds for Mike are Sean and Linda Ennis, who will be holding this year's Leo's Day on Saturday 7th June.

They have already opened up entries for this year, so if you fancy entering a team or want to help out on the day, please email Linda Ennis at linda.ennis@hertfordshirefa.com.

Let's all do our bit - your support will be greatly appreciated by all involved.
