The performance of the weekend belonged to Davy Douglas' Under-13 squad who turned out a superb 7-1 victory away to Maiden City Academy in the NIBFA National League. Buoyed by his recent call-up to the NIBFA Select team for their upcoming tournament, Timmy McClure hit five goals with Oisin O'Mullan grabbing the other two. Credit also goes to Joshua Balmer who assisted six of the seven goals on Saturday morning.
There was also a morale boosting victory for Colin Lorimer's Under-15's at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday as Lewis Mearns struck twice to seal a 2-1 National League victory over Sion Swifts.
Across town, Leon Graham was proving too hot to handle for Tristar Boys against Jonny Hume's Under-12's. Graham struck twice and Tyreese McDowell added another in a great attacking spectacle at Lamont Park on Saturday morning. In the South Belfast Youth League, Chris Duff's Under-11's struggled to break down their Glentoran Academy opponents.
Unfortunately, yet again, there was a washout of fixtures at the University of Ulster in Coleraine for the Harry Gregg Foundation Youth League. The only underage team that managed to take to the field were John McDowell's Under-10 'Academy' team who couldn't break down Linfield in a tightly contested friendly game.
