Weakened Under-14's fall to Bangor

Ballymena United Youth Academy Under-14's faced Bangor Football Academy in the League Cup group stages.

Ballymena United Youth Academy Under-14's played this rearranged League Cup group game at Allen Park on Wednesday night.

Commitments and some late withdrawals meant the team had a small squad of only 12 players but there was nothing in the game early on between the two sides.

Brooklyn Allen went close for United as did Blake Douglas before Kyle Neill delayed his finish as chances came and went. The imposing Bangor keeper was in fine form and the Seasiders capitalised on some sloppy defensive play to take the lead.

The rains came in the second half and in monsoon conditions United lost Scott McCullough and Seanie MacIntosh to injury, the latter after a superb goal line clearance Callum Richmond was struggling with injury as United endeavoured with only nine fit players.

Alas it was too much and more goals followed for the Co Down lads. Matthew Worthington crashed an effort off a post but the Under-14s will hope their luck must surely change as they face Bertie Peacock Youth next Wednesday night again in Antrim.
