Ballymena United Youth Academy Under-11 'Academy' faced Greenisland in the NIBFA Cup on Friday evening.
The Ballymena United Youth Academy Under-11 team welcomed an excellent Greenisland YA to the Showgrounds in the NIBFA Cup in front of a large crowd on Friday night.
Greenisland showed their quality in the opening exchanges and deservedly went 2-0 ahead. A superb cross from Adam Wharry and fantastic finish from Conan McKeown just before the break seen the match change.
The second half seen the Youth Academy dominate and deservedly equalise through an excellent finish from Ryan Clarke. The Sky Blues then pressed for the winner with Greenisland very dangerous on the break in an all action 25 minutes of football.
Coming to the close of the contest with penalties looking likely Ballymena won a freekick. The ever dependable Callum Burnside played a dangerous ball into the box which Conan McKeown managed to turn into the net to put the United 3-2 up. The boys then remained strong to the final whistle to ensure progression to the final 16 of the NIBFA Cup.
