The Mini Soccer School runs Sept-Nov every Autumn for nine weeks and then again in the Spring, through March, April and May for another nine Saturdays.
Originally held in Cullybackey High School Gym each Tuesday evening under the guidance of John Evans and David Bell the club decided to relocate to Ballymena Showgrounds in 2000 so that all practices could be held on grass.
Stanley Galbraith then took charge of this section for a number of years, the sessions were then ran by Michael Watterson before in the 2018 season Alan Millar has moved back from the older age groups to co-ordinate. The Mini Soccer School has continued to thrive and is a recognised Football Development Centre by the IFA also preparing young players for the rigours of the NIBFA National league where they can represent the town.
It has produced lots of talented players for the various teams and many have already went on to win a senior Co Antrim Shield Medal (2012), League Cup (2017) and a Harry Cavan Youth Cup Medal (2009), two mini soccer products are now embarking on full times careers in Scotland.Others have played in the winning Co Antrim Super Cup winning sides and many are now regulars in the senior Ballymena u20, u18 and u16 sides pushing towards the first team.
Two sessions are held each Saturday morning , Alan Millar is assisted by his fellow coaches; Richard McClean, Ryan Orr, Gordon Mairs, Darren McFall and aspiring coaches from the United u18 group.
Our philosophy is to give everyone the opportunity to participate irrespective of talent and for all participants to develop to their full potential in a FUN and FRIENDLY environment.
All new players welcome. Contact a member of staff below or feel free to turn up at a training session.
