ST OLIVER PLUNKETT U14 2-1 BALLYMENA UNITED YA U14
Subway NIBFA National League Under-13
Date: Friday 24th March 2017
Venue: Malone Playing Fields - Kick-off: 7.15pm
The Tullyglass sponsored Under 13s conceded a last minute goal from a corner to harshly concede all 3 points against a strong Plunketts team on Friday night.
Oisin O'Mullan had an early chance saved following good interchange between Balmer, Foster and McClure, soon after Plunketts threatened and had a shot which just cleared the crossbar. The Sky Blues were unable to find the same fluency as the previous week and were indebted to the midfield duo of Billy Ewart and Scott Montgomery who worked tirelessly to combat the threat posed by the hosts.
Plunketts had the better of the first half and only a fantastic goal line header by Mark Lowry prevented them going in ahead at the break.
In the second half Ballymena begun to find their feet. Balmer, Foster and McClure linked well but the elusive first goal didn't come early. Eventually Joshua Balmer scored a 25 yard free kick to give United the lead but Plunkett replied with ten minutes remaining.
Then with only a minute on the clock Plunketts scored as a man found space in the box to score from a corner. Ballymena had one last chance but no-one could get on the end of Foster's cross and the game finished 2-1.
Best Wishes to Timothy McClure who goes off on Wednesday to represent the NIBFA Select in an international tournament in Spain.
Man of the Match - Billy Ewart and Scott Montgomery.
