Ballymena United Youth Academy Under-14's faced Sion Swifts on Saturday in the NIBFA National League.
Four goal Kirk McLaughlin showed just about everything positive from a strikers perspective in an emphatic league win over Sion Swifts on Saturday.
In form Owen Blair started the goals flowing In the second minute when he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box. The impressive Adam Watterson then delivered a dangerous cross but nobody could take advantage.
Blair turned provider for the second goal - setting up Joshua Balmer on eight minutes. Balmer then had an audacious overhead kick crash off the crossbar. On 15 minutes Mclaughlin scored the first of his four goals finishing of a neat passing move by taking a quick shot early from 18 yards.
Watterson had an attempt clear the bar but Oisin O'Mullan set him up to make it 4-0 just before half time .
Joshua Balmer crashed two shots off the crossbar before Owen Blair made it 5-0 when he rounded the keeper and O'Mullan crossed for McLaughlin to make it six. Ballymena were confident in possession with Lewis Tennant dictating play from central midfield.
O'Mullan got a well deserved goal - forcing a mistake in defence and slotting past the keeper to make it seven. McLaughlin got his hat-trick with 10 minutes remaining but his fourth goal was fitting to grace any match. Tennant played Jonny Douglas in the left channel and he played two interchanges with McLaughlin then reversed a lob over the centre half and Mclaughlin volleyed into the top corner. An outstanding goal. Sion pulled a goal back on the stroke of full-time.
