History - History 1
Bamber Bridge ARLFC was formed in 1984 after a group of local lads took part in Wigan’s Ken Gee Sevens competition. The team began playing friendlies, drawing in more experienced players from further afield, before entering North West Counties Division 9 in 1986, establishing themselves at their Withy Park Ground.
Just three years later the team clinched the Chester Sevens trophy, having been runners up the previous year, and began a steady climb up the North West Counties leagues. Despite pulling off several memorable victories in the early rounds of the National Cup, major titles have previously eluded Bamber Bridge. However, the team gave its best seasonal performance yet, under the management of then head coach Dean Acaster, to become Division Three Champions of 2001/2002 having lost only one league game all season.
BBARLFC celebrated their 21st anniversary in 2005 with a massive end of season dinner and Playing the Dutch Rugby League Development Squad in Rotterdam, emerging victorious.
