Why not hop along (sorry) to the new Clubhouse at Banbury Rugby Club for 7.00 pm on Friday 31st July when Banbury Rugby Club and Bodicote Cricket Club will be putting on a race-night with a difference!

Frog Racing is, apparently, a sight not to be missed and the slimy little blighters are already deep into their training schedule in Mr Roger’s bath.

There will be six heats in all, with six frogs competing in each, and the winners from each heat will spawn (sorry) a Grand Final. The amphibians come under starters orders at 7.30 pm for the first race.

On the night you can ‘buy’ a frog for £5 (subject to the usual RSPCF probity checks) and be in with a chance of winning some of the prize fund.

And if you fancy yourself as a big kahuna in the world of Frog Racing then why not buy the naming rights to one of the races for the tadpole-sized (sorry) fee of £40.

Apparently one of the races will be designated a Ladies Race, but it’s unclear whether that refers to the frogs or the ‘owners’. What is clear however is that kissing anything resembling a frog in a rugby club is unlikely to produce a Prince……(sorry).
