U14s pipped by Chinnor
Denied by the upright for a two point loss
In a match postponed by snow we faced closerivals Chinnor this morning in the county cup.
Plenty of rain and mud made this a proper game of rugby and the play on the pitch didn’t
With such a tight scoreline as you can imagine this game was fought mostly in middle of the pitch. Both sides were defensively brilliant and the ball changed hands often.
Neither side could make much progress and it wasn’t until Banbury found some width that the deadlock was broken. A run away try from our winger got the first five points and then the conversion attempt hit the post.
In the second half after a mass Banbury substitution Chinnor scored before the new front row were settled. Their kick was straighter and the score was 5-7.
Banbury were on the offensive as the whistle blew but could not make pressure count. A very tight game, fought with passion, which was a credit to both clubs.
