United hit an all time low as they crash 5-0 at home to make it six games played and six defeats

There was nothing in the first ten minutes to suggest that this game was going to be virtually “one-way” traffic but after Cirencester took the lead in the 10th minute when a left hand side corner taken by Ben Wells was headed home at the far post by the incoming Aiden Bennett that is exactly how the game panned out.

Just six minutes later it was 2-0 when a long kick from Glyn Garner in the Cirencester goal down the right hand side was headed on by Nat Jarvis to Bennett who showed superb skill by flicking the ball around Marvin Martin and then taking the ball inside from the edge of the penalty area before shooting from a narrow angle past the advancing Josh Hill in the Banbury goal into the far bottom corner of the net.

The third goal arrived just before the half hour mark when a cross from the left by Bennett to the far post saw Hill come out to punch the ball away but fail to get to it ahead of Jarvis who headed it home from 10 yards.

In the last minute of the first half it was nearly 4-0 when a cross from the left bye-line by Ben Prictor was met in a central position inside the six yard box by the incoming Ed Williams but somehow Hill managed to block the point blank range shot and the ball spun out for a corner.

Just 60 seconds after the start of the second half a long ball hooked down the field by Williams found Jarvis through on goal and he was unfortunate to see his 25 yard volley smash against the upright before coming out and being cleared. However, a minute later and Cirencester had their fourth goal when a cross from the left was headed down into the ground by Jarvis with the ball then looping up over Hill and into the top corner of the net.

Banbury’s first decent shot of the game came on the hour mark when substitute Darius Browne ran in from the right touchline before unleashing from 25 yards a powerful left foot volley which went just wide of the far post.

The last minute of the game saw Cirencester grab a fifth goal when substitute Jamie Reid got on to the end of a long kick down the field from Garner and then calmly in a one-on-one situation slotted the ball home past Hill from 12 yards.

From a Banbury perspective all one can say is that this was a shocking performance and there appears to be a huge amount of work to do to get this side up to Southern League Premier Division standard, after all Cirencester, though impressive on the day, were statistically a bottom half of the table side prior to this afternoon's fixture.

The only positive to take from the game was the performance of Darius Browne who came on ten minutes into the second half. At least he ran at the Cirencester defenders and with his trickery and dribbling caused them problems, something that no other Banbury player can realistically claim to have done all afternoon.
