United are through to the Buckingham Charity Cup final for the third consecutive season after a 4-0 semi-final second leg win over Olney Town.

United earned a place in the final of the Buckingham Charity Cup after this 4-0 second leg semi-final win over Olney Town at the Spencer Stadium. This followed on from their 4-3 win in the first leg at Olney the previous week.

It was a rather uneventful first 20 minutes but burst into life at that point. Firstly on 23 minutes a Marcus Green surging run from the half way line to the edge of the Olney penalty area saw him brought down. The resultant free-kick taken by Kynan Isaac went just inches over the bar. A minute later a Carl Tappin shot from distance stung the goalkeeper’s hands but this good spell for United would be rewarded with a goal in the 27th minute when a free kick just outside the penalty area was taken quickly by Marvin Martin to Kynan Isaac and with the Olney defence caught out Isaac in on goal slotted the ball past stand-in goalkeeper Jamie Burrows from 10 yards.

United made it 2-0 six minutes into the second half when Tanasheh Abrahams passed through to Adeyinka Talabi inside the Olney penalty area who struck the ball home from 12 yards from a very narrow angle.

On 70 minutes Burrows had the ball at his feet on the edge of the penalty area but tried to be too clever with it and Anthony Obeng robbed it off him and it was then a simple tap-in into an empty net for his first goal for the club.

Just two minutes later and Abrahams ran through from the half way line before unleashing a low drive from 22 yards which found its way into the corner of the net to make it 4-0

United will have to wait until Saturday to find out their opponents as the second semi-final second leg between Buckingham Town and Buckingham Athletic takes place then. Athletic have a 3-2 lead from the first leg with Town having home advantage in the second leg.

The final will be played at Buckingham Athletic’s ground on Holiday Monday 5th May 3.00pm kick-off
