Updated information on CBS Launch Evening on Thursday 25th June

After a successful open meeting in March, Banbury United Supporters Club have been working with the current board of directors of Banbury United FC to transfer the ownership of the club to a Community Benefit Society (CBS).

The Community Benefit Society is a model that has been successfully introduced by other clubs to give supporters ownership of clubs. It is an extension of a Supporters Trust and means a club is controlled by it’s members with an elected committee responsible for governance and major decision making.

This work has been undertaken by a CBS Steering Group and they will hold a launch evening at the Spencer Stadium clubhouse on Thursday 25 June, 7.30 pm.

The CBS has now been formed and incorporated by the Steering Group. This evening will update on the transfer of ownership and the progress made by the Steering Group and the current Board to achieve this.

The evening will also be the formal opening of membership to the CBS and give the opportunity to purchase Community Shares in the society.

The CBS Steering Group will also outline plans for the season ahead and proposals for the formal election of officers by the membership. .There will also be a chance for questions from supporters.

There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure we start the 2015-16 season as we want to go on and at the meeting we will be asking for the support of supporters to volunteer to help achieve this.

We are a long way down the line of starting an exciting new chapter in our club - Banbury United FC owned by its supporters.

Commenting on the evening Supporters Club Stephen Barlow said ”We would love to see as many United supporters as possible on 25 June, from the diehards to those with a passing interest in the club, not just the 1st team but the Ladies and Juniors sections too. Together we can make a club we are proud of”.

Promotional literature including the share offer booklet with full details of the CBS and membership forms will be distributed at the evening with further copies available for supporters to take away with them so they can promote the scheme too.
