Histon are the visitors to the Spencer Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) for a Southern League Premier Division game.

Histon have been through difficult times in recent seasons with financial problems much to the fore. A club that were promoted to the Southern League at the same time as we were at the end of season 1999/2000 and then similarly earned at the same time as us a place in the Premier Division for 2004/05.

There the similarities end for whilst we would stagnate at Premier Division level Histon would go on to enjoy two more promotions right to the top level of non-league football, spending four seasons in the Conference National. However, two relegations later and Histon are back in the Southern League Premier Division for this season and a rather difficult one it has been for them, albeit not as difficult as ours has turned out to be! They were bottom of the table towards the end of October with just nine points from 14 games, (yes even we were above them!), but steady if not spectacular improvement since then has seen them now guarantee their Premier Division status for next season.

As for ourselves nothing but a win can possibly keep alive our hopes of avoiding relegation. But even that may not be enough if other results go against us. Hicham Abdellah, Jordan Green and Joel Meade who all missed the game at Poole are expected to return so it is a full squad available to manager Paul Davis.
