The club is now able to confirm the signing of 20 year-old left sided midfielder Ben Whitehead from Didcot Town.

Ben began his football career as a junior at Oxford United before having a two year scholarship at Swindon Town.

After being released by Swindon he joined then Southern League Division One side Abingdon United for the start of season 2012/13. He subsequently moved to Swindon Supermarine in January 2013 before joining Didcot Town in November 2013. He has been a regular in the Didcot side this season making 14 appearances.

Ben is the son of former Oxford United and Reading goalkeeper Phil Whitehead.

The club would like to thank Didcot Town for their speedy co-operation in completing the paperwork.

United manager Paul Davis said “Ben is a player that creates and scores goals. We are delighted he has agreed to join us.”

The paperwork has been completed in time for Ben to be part of the squad for this evening's game against Hereford United.
