Epping Forest Guardian Match Report

This is the match report printed in the local paper...

A home fixture against league strugglers Millwall represented the perfect opportunity for Bancroft to go into the Christmas break on a high. The contest started at a frantic pace in tricky underfoot conditions, and it was the home side who struck first with Luke Brewin touching down and converting his own score in the tenth minute.

Bancroft enjoyed the majority of possession for the remainder of the half and ran up four further tries courtesy of Matt Barrett, Tony How, Mat Henry and James Dempsey, all of which were converted. Half time allowed Millwall to regroup and they came out fighting, scoring a converted try within a few minutes of the restart.

However normal service was quickly resumed and tries from Craig Dempsey, Adam Capon and a second for Brewin wrapped up the scoring. A final score of 53-7 reflected the home side’s dominance however a competitive Millwall display ensured they were tested until the end. Bancroft now look to the New Year with confidence ahead of two vital clashes with fellow promotion rival Maldon and Billericay.
