Youths Big Win at Welshpool
Bangor keep hopes of winning the league alive and are just 2 points behind Bala who they play this Thursday.
Saturday may 5th
Welshpool Youth 5 - 39 Bangor Youth
Welshpool Youth 5 - 39 Bangor Youth
Bangor Youth travelled to Welshpool with 5 usually starting players unavailable for different reasons but it showed what a good squad these boys are as they were not fazed and it is full credit to the players who stood up, some of which playing out of position that they still managed to score 7 tries against an unusually big Welshpool side. The first 20 minutes were a bit of an arm wrestle with both sides weighing each other up but Bangor looking the more dominant and likely to score with constant pressure which stopped Welshpool from gaining any momentum. Two tries from Hooker Rhys Williams who was constantly harassing the Welshpool players came in the first half with Rhys Jones converting 1 leaving Bangor with a 12 – 0 lead at half time. Bangor started to play fast and controlled rugby and were constantly in Welshpools faces leaving them no room to play as they started to get more frustrated. Bangor Youth’s confidence was high and they increased their efforts by successfully offloading the ball in contact throughout the game to maintain their momentum resulting in another 5 tries being scored in the second half, another 1 from Rhys Williams rounding off a superb individual performance by getting his hat trick as well as other well worked tries from Will Haines, Alex Johnson, Ash Randell and Carwyn Roberts with Rhys Jones converting 1 to make the final score 39 – 5.
A good all round squad performance from a group of individuals who worked hard for each other and thoroughly deserved their win and now have their final game against Bala on Thursday evening
