Quay moved in to the last eight of the war of the roses competition with a convincing victory of division 1 side Leyland, Quay took an early lead after some early pressure on the opposition line saw Lewis Hoarty power through 4 defenders to score converted by Glynn Roberts, the lead was short lived though as Leyland hit straight back following a mistake from the restart to level the scores at 6-6, the next score come off the back of some strong defence which forced Leyland to spill the ball on their 40 meter line with Ryan Shepherd the most alert who picked up the loose ball and raced down the left hand side to score the first of his 4 tries, with the game ebbing and flowing it was Leyland who got back level on the 30th minute.

Just minutes later it was Leyland who were looking to go in front for the first time only for Glynn Roberts to intercept on his 20 meter line and race in under the posts which he also converted to go 16-12 up, Quay's cause wasn't helped in the 39th minute when captain Alan Clare was dismissed for a headbutt and from the resulting penalty Leyland kicked for goal to in 16-12 at half time.

You wouldn't have noticed that Quay were playing a man down in the second half as the cut out the errors and started to play some superb rugby which Ryan Shepherd was the first to take advantage of when the ball moved wide and he just had to much pace and power to score in the corner converted by Roberts to make it 22-12, Glynn Roberts then made a break on the half way line and fed Lewis Hoarty who after juggling with ball dummied his way over for 26-12, it was then the turn of Darren Forshaw to score after showing great footwork to beat two defenders and go in for 30-12.

With the game no over as a contest Quay ran in further tries through Ryan Shepherd 2 and Chris Forster who picked up a loose ball to score under the sticks and then cheekily drop goal the extra's, Roberts also converted one of Shepherds tries to complete the scoring at 46-12, the best for Bank Quay was Lewis Hoarty, Gynn Roberts and Ryan Shepherd.
