Frustration At Selhurst Street !!
Bardon’s recent good run of form came to a shuddering halt against lowly Radford. The inconsistency that has blighted Bardon’s season was again apparent when a hatful of chances went begging and Radford secured inclusion to the EMCL for another season.
Bardon dominated the first 30 minutes of the contest and good work by youngster Duffield meant Bardon were always on the front foot. Indeed, Duffield was heavily involved in creating the first good chance of the game which ended with Thornley firing at keeper Want. Duffield then came close himself when firing narrowly over the bar from 25 yards. Bardon deservedly took the lead on 21 minutes when a quick throw from Blyth was hooked forward by Hebbard to Ramsey who out run the defence and comfortably slot home past the advancing keeper Want.
Bardon were now completely on top and only wasteful finishing combined with some excellent saves from keeper Want prevented Bardon from emphatically increasing their lead. Inevitably this profligacy was to prove expensive and just before half time a left wing corner by Radford was headed down by Mahl for Allen to shoot home from six yards.
This gave Radford confidence and just after half time they took the lead when poor defending from the normally reliable Eggington was capitalised on by striker Allen who finished clinically.
Bardon then pressed forward in search of the equaliser and only a string of excellent saves from Want kept them at bay. A double save from Ramsey was particularly impressive and a save from O’Callaghan in the last minute of the game insured the home side secured the three points. For Bardon the end of the season cannot come soon enough.
