Bare claim second WCL Div 1 scalp in the H&L cup.

After feeling down in the dumps after yesterdays performance, Bare were out to put the fielding efforts to right as they faced Milnthorpe in the Hackney & Leigh cup, round 2. Captain Nev winning the toss and batting in glorious sun with return of the 'ex' students. K.Singleton (2-15) bowled a fine spell and removed the Sharman jnr. early earning him the quack. It was dad John (42) that used his experience well to play the bad ball. Public school boy Eddon (19) got again off to a thus spiffing start but the trajectory deceiving him thus again having him removed thy lbw! B.Baldwin (1-13) came on and took an early wick to break another partnership forming and again had a tidy and economical spell. Experienced heads at the crease Oz was running the singles well and when the person who wanted to be named in the match report but can't for legal reasons (27) built a good 50 partnership gave Bare a platform to accelerate. He was comically run out leaving P (teas) Martin (15) to partner Oz scoring quickly and getting Bare's most angriest man to 50. He was stumped by neat work by Poss, who had a tidy game behind the stumps and was one of his two victims. Murphy (4-55) then removed Oz for 52 and went through the lower order, but did prove expensive. Bare finishing with a respectable 179/8 off there allotted overs and a good brother of Chris 'Coldplay' Martin put on a good spread for lunch.
In reply Milnthorpe got starts but again Albon (2-19) with his pace and swing caused problems for the openers and had them both removed. B.Smith (11) and S.Woodburn (28) built a good partnership but when the game was poised well first change bowler Cook (4-17) struck and Schweppsy/permanent student (3-13) proved too much to handle!!! Great catches and from P.Martin, posh boy Eddon and Nev, who also conceded no byes and had an excellent performance behind the stumps, meant that the middle order had a Bare style collapse. It was left to birthday boy A.Sharman (1-1) that finished the game of with a second catch for...what the lad called...ah well senior moment! Bare winning by 94 runs and another blaming Sunday. Surprise, surprise...we got drawn away at...Shires! Great performance and catching takes us away to Ingleton for Bare's next league game. Right I'm off to work out who this person that is supposed to be in the report and laugh inside about it, have a good week all :-)
