11 men make a difference

Archit may get deported for not speaking or calling!

A second encounter of the season with Kirkby saw skipper Martin lose the toss and Bare were asked to bowl first in humid but overcast conditions. A welcomed returned to Stevey B, out of retirement, to the Bare squad enhanced the average age of the team! Bare openers were moving the ball with pace as good catches from Vish, Cookie and TT from the opening bowlers Albon (1/18) and Oz (2/25) saw Kirkby at 20/3 with S.Williams the only player so far to score double figures with 11 off 3 scoring shots. Cooper (18) and Swindlehurst (19) put up some resistance but were bowled by the first change bowlers of buckets and jugs. They ripped through the middle order and tail including good catches from Oz and Nev and a chesty drop by the fat lad! Royce (15) playing a sensible innings with Kirk (7 not out) saw Kirkby go from 66/9 to 92 all out with accurate bowling from Smith (3/22) and Cook (4/17).
After teas Oz (18) and Cook (9) started well playing the loose deliveries putting Bare on 32/0. Kirk (1/13) struck then with first change bowler Troughton's first ball (3/27) Bare were pegged back. Bhardwaj looked in steady form but no-one knows as he never called causing confusing in the batting ranks and getting his partners run out. First change bowler Metcalf (2/29) supported Troughton to rip through Bares middle order as Bare slumped to 67/7 including some simple catches and the innings of Jay with the best shot of the game four and the worst! Smith (8 not out) was dropped early on as the ball gained snow (a ball that the old Rev would be please with!). But TT and Archy (39 not out) played sensible innings at the end to see Bare over the line with 3 wickets to spare doing the double over Kirkby. It was good to see the bum shot back and a good 15 points for the Bare boys as they go to Ingleton next week in search for another victory. Right I'm off to throw up after seeing AEO naked in his hot tub on social media, listen in to Beyond Radio from 6-7 tomorrow (Sunday 3rd) for banter on todays game!
