Bare draw the line up t'north like!
Robbie drops his best mate so he can get runs galore as Bare get a losing draw at Penrith!
On a rare overcast day at Bare first trip to Penrith 2s, Nev lost the toss and Bare were asked to bowl. A bad decision at the start Bare openers ripped through Penrith top order with pace and swing as Albon (3/33) and Oz (1/27) saw Penrith on 4/3. Aided with a simple catch from Archy, Robson (12) dug in but was removed behind from Nev off traitor Shweppsy (2/31) who then eventually took an eventual caught and bowled to see Penrith onto 46/5. The Winspear connection dug in and after a significant simple catch from White been put down, they capitalised as the pair put on 77 for the 6th wicket and saw Mark go past 50. O.Winspear (26) eventually trapped by the return of Craigo the traigo. Jones (15) then offered good support for Winspear until Archit (1/44) removed him with his only wicket to wicket ball! Morland (7 not out) supported M.Winspear as he got to 100 not out with 1 ball to spare in the innings that finished on 170/7. A brilliant knock and a decent tea as Bare looked to chase down a decent total on a now flattened, lifeless track.
Bare started positively but it was the young Lucus (2/26) that struck first with some good swing bowling. Oz (18) batting well with Janet (12) until he got a good ball from O'Brian and Rob Dog helped his other mate out, McLean (2/27) by popping the ball up for a catch! Teffers (19) and M.Lee (10) dug in for a long time (it really was Mrs Lee, he was missing you but we are so glad he helped us out as he is pretty good really...and quick!)...hopefully that buys his services next week! After Jonesey tidy 6 Bare slumped to 89/8 with it looking like defeat, especially when Craig played a rare attacking shot off his first delivery that was dropped behind. Albon (16 not out) and Cook (12 not out) saw out the remaining 7/8 overs but vitally getting a bonus point in the last over and gaining a losing draw. A mixed performance against a good and mainly young Penrith team, Bare can take some positives from today. Heysham 'A' next week and a big thanks to Zak for his scoring and comedy hair! Right home alone with cider and TV, what could possibly go wrong???!!!
