With several players missing through injury, work or college commitments the team had to change a bit and saw Geraint Hobbs move into the centre and usual scrum-half Craig Wilson on the wing. Despite this the team were still optimistic of a good performance.

Barg got off to a flying start and were on the board within 20 seconds. Caerphilly failed to gather the kick-off and prop Nicky Thomas gained possession and carried into the heart of the caer defence before offloading to James Richards who finished off. This score was quickly followed up when impressive second-row Richards went over for his 2nd and with the conversion from Wilson they held a healthy 12-0 lead after a few minutes.

With Caerphilly calling passive scrums pre-game barg did not have the opportunity to unleash their powerful scrum on the opposition and despite the positive start were a little sloppy and made a few basic errors. From some slopping tackling caerphilly got on the scoreboard with a converted try wide out on the right and to their credit their young side battled throughout.

After conceding this score barg responded and from a period of sustained pressure Josh Davies finished off a fine movement for the team's third, before fullback Liam Matthews got the fourth after an excellent offload from ex-caerphilly boy Dai Evans to take the score to 24-7 after Wilson's conversion.

Midway through the half Caer had a back-row man sin-binned for taking out skipper Herbert in the air, before Herbert himself was also sent to the bin after he was harshly deemed to have not rolled away from a tackle, even though he waas not actually the tackler and simply jackled for the ball. Barg struggled to hit the heights of previous games and they did lack that cutting edge which was expected considering the changes in personnel. However, with plenty of speed throughout did manage two more first-half scores both from busy flanker Luke Morgan. His first came after barg broke out from deep and Wilson made good ground before finding Morgan who sprinted in from 40m, and then he finished off some good inter-passing to go over for his second. The score read 36-7 at the interval.

Caerphilly were very competitive in the second period without really threatening,however it was barg who continued with their scoring and from close-range Herbert went over for his team's 7th. Bargoed's lineout was working well and they also used the driving maul to good effect. Sion Jones was lively on the wing, despite being a marked man from his previous days at Caerphilly!

It was Jones who was next to score when from a series of good phases, the ball was moved wide and the winger showed great speed to go over for a good try which was improved by James Hallett who had come on as a replacement for Flyhalf Dai Evans. The second-half was a bit stop-start and with scrums going passive from the start the barg pack looked a bit lacking in drive and the team as a whole looked below-par compared with recent performances.

Skipper Herbert was then on the receiving end of a poor decision, when after he was the last up at the ruck the ref decided to give him a yellow card which meant a red, even though he had not actually done anything and Alex can feel aggrieved by both yellow's received on the night.

Overall, an average performance but another positive win and another step towards the crunch game with the Sarries. The team never really got going and lacked that cutting edge. However, with lots of changes and uncontested scrums the coaches were pleased to have got another good score to maintain the pressure at the top of the league. Man of the match was hard-working prop Nicky Thomas.
