Barkers get off to a winning start at their home tournament although we didn't have it all our own way.
The first match of the tournament saw Barkers pitched against Harbury whom we had encountered a couple of times earlier in the season. Barkers started positively but early handling errors made the first few minutes a stop-start affair. Keston Lines broke the deadlock with the first try despite some close attention from the Harbury defence. Some slack defence on our part let Harbury back into the game as they responded with a strong break to level the score. Keston crossed the line once again to regain the advantage before half time, but the job was far from done.
A pep talk at half time and a few tactical changes helped us to get on top slightly in the second half. Following a break by Chaz Neale down the blind side, Robert Anderson touched down undre a mass of bodies to stretch our advantage. Keston posted his third of the match after Owen Jones came off injured from the front row.
A fair effort against an improving Harbury side that didn't give up but a typical slow start to proceedings for Barkers.
