Interview With Alex Goldstone

1 month ago By Adam Dennehey

Barkingside's interim manager Alex Goldstone has given his take on how he's settling into life in charge at the club.

Alex answered the following questions in an interview for the club website.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How are you settling into life at the football club?

I'm settling in well. I’ve had to build a new team as there were only a few players left over and we have had to rely on Romford to loan some players to get a squad together. I’ve now had a few weeks and I am slowly adding to the pool of players that I had.

Bringing in Jack Tebbut on board as my assistant has been a massive help, as he too has brought some players on board. Hopefully in the New Year we can have a settled squad and start picking some points up.

What changes have you made to the squad since joining and why?

The only changes that I’ve made so far is adding to the squad.

What has been your key message to the players since taking charge?

I’ve told the boys to ignore the league and concentrate on what’s happening now. It's important we put some results together and then worry about where we are. I can’t change what happened before I was here and nor can they.

Have you seen improvements in performances since your appointment?

I thought we were unlucky against Southend Manor when we lost 2-0. Against Redbridge I thought it was pretty even as well. The Ilford game at home was a reality check but saying that I had just 1 recognised defender in that team and he picked up an injury in the first half.

Is it true you have a family connection with the club, can you tell us more about that?

Yes my Dad was vice-chairman when Mickey Woodward was here. I used to regularly attend games when I was younger and spent a lot of time at the club with my dad.

What would you say to our fans and ground-hoppers, on what they should expect to see from us over the second-hand of the season?

Simply to keep the faith in myself and the players and we will do our best in turning this around for Jim and the fans, whose support is always appreciated.
