A tough first half saw Barmouth 0-3 down at the interval. Like the last game, Barmouth put in a much better second half performance.

There was much anticipation at the Wern Mynach following Holywell's 15 goal haul against Llanfairpwll last Saturday and the visitors got off to a great start after 8 minutes with Phil Lloyd tapping in from close in following a move and cross down the right wing. Holywell continued to apply pressure and had a couple of decent chances with Darren Andrews in the Barmouth goal being called upon to keep the visitors out. On 25 minutes Andrews punted the ball upfield having been injured only to see the ball come back through the centre of defence and a delightful short pass to Lloyd for him to net his and Holywell's second of the afternoon.

It wasn't until the half hour mark that Barmouth had their first clear chance with George Sutherns failing to connect in front of goal after a cross to the right wing found Adam Morris who put the ball back across goal.

Barmouth went 3-0 down with 10 minutes to go to half time with a goal from Paul Williams although I was much too busy selling raffle tickets to see what happened.

The second half was a more even affair although you always felt that Holywell could up the work rate if necessary. Paul Lewis, who else, pulled it back to 1-3 with a terrific right foot shot on 55 minutes but Holywell quickly restored their 3 goal advantage when Dafydd Griffiths headed in on the far post from a free kick near the half way line.

The last half hour saw both sides moaning at the officials and the game was spoilt somewhat by this and the reaction of the crowd.

Both sides had a good workout and enjoyed probably the best sausage and chips in town and a pint in the pub afterwards.

Home again next week, this time against Glan Conwy.
