Town travel to Runcorn this coming weekend in the Vase first round proper. Runcorn have started the season really well and Paul Mcnally has won the first two manager of the month awards. The linnets because of their cup exploits have currently played the least games in the division and are playing catch up in the league with 18 points from 9 games putting them in 13th position. They also played Stone Dominoes away last week in a crazy game winning 8-5 and Kevin Stowey scored a hat-trick in the first 3 minutes! Runcorn have beaten Congleton Town away 2-1 in the first round and then Bootle at home 2-0 with Stan Pearson scoring in both matches. Runcorns chairman Derek Greenwood actually lives in Sough 5 minutes away and used to teach at West Craven High School in Barnoldswick. Town come into the game after an emphatic 4-0 win against St helens at home. They have beaten Irlam 3-1 in the first round and then Abbey Hey in the second 5-2 having found themselves 2-0 down. In head to heads Town and Runcorn have only met twice before both in the league with Town winning both. Paul Fildes is currently the only player to have played for both clubs.
