2018 Rugby in Canada Guest Coach/Player Programmme

3 weeks ago By Stuart Bennett

Sarnia Rugby Club is now welcoming applicants that would like to come to Canada for Summer 2018.

If a guest thinks that they'd like to come to Sarnia, they should let Sarnia Rugby know ASAP. The club is now considering when guests will be arriving. Applicants should keep in mind that if they have acquaintances that they'd recommend and that they consider excellent travel companions, the club can extend its offer to them as well.
The Ontario rugby season begins its league matches in mid May. There are 10 league games each season. The club books pre-season friendlies and often is involved in post season play. League play is usually done in mid August.
On average the club receives up to 4 guests per season. The club wants guests to be prepared to take a lead role or to assist in coaching. The club has DoR's in place but is interested in filling various coaching positions within its male, female and junior programs, keeping in mind that developing its' men's side is a primary goal of the club.

The club has a formula for flight cost co-op. When applied, it can reimburse up to a 90% portion of flight costs after guests arrive in Sarnia. The club can take care of getting people to and from Canadian & American airports; Detroit, Flint, London, Hamilton or Toronto. After an applicant provides details of their flight, the club will quote the amount that it will co-op.

The club provides excellent accommodation arrangements; a secure room with bed, kitchen & laundry facilities, and plenty of hot water. Guests pay nothing for housing while volunteering with the club. The club provides for Rugby Canada registration and catastrophic injury players’ insurance, (while on the pitch). Guests are registered as members of the club while in Canada.
As for part-time employment while in Canada, some European citizens can work legally while visiting. Members of the club can help guests find work. Unskilled jobs such as cutting lawns and gardening are most always available.
Thank You for your interest,
