History

The success of the Barnsley Ladies team evolved a well supported youth section. This, in turn, led to the formation of the Mens team.

It seems incredulous that after all the years Mens Field Hockey has been played in South & West Yorkshire, Barnsley did not have a team! Huddersfield, Wakefield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield surround us and boast long-standing heritage to the game. Now Barnsley, the centre of some peoples universe, has joined them.

The Barnsley Mens team, who were only set up in 2008 have seen promotion every season.

In 2010-2011 season Barnsley have the best goal difference in their division this, are one of four unbeaten sides in the entire league structure and have conceded fewer goals than the other 113 teams.

While also seeing the first appearance of Barnsley 2 XI in the Yorkshire Development League.
