Club Development - Bridge Field

During the summer of 2008, following lengthy discussions, a lease was agreed with Devon County Council for the land between the club and the new Taw Bridge which we now refer to as Bridge Field. The bad weather over the autumn meant that the ground works were much delayed, but in the spring 2009 the contractors completed their work and the ground was seeded and fertilised. The grass has taken well and the pitches have proved invaluable over the last couple of seasons.

Bridge Field is configured with a 'full size' pitch, a 'half size' pitch for midi rugby and a 'quarter size' pitch for mini rugby. A sponsor kindly came forward to help with the purchase of the posts and portable training lights. Together these ensure that the Junior Section can train away from the training pitch with the fixed lights. This reduces congestion on training evenings over the winter and importantly allows the training to move around the existing pitches and Bridge Field to spread the wear on them.

During the spring and summer of 2011 the club negotiated with the council for an extension to the lease which was due to expire on 31 August 2011. The club is pleased to announce that in August 2011 the club secured a further five year lease for Bridge Field that will secure its use until the end of August 2016.
